In the Baroque center of Salzburg - the city of Mozart and of world famous festivals - the Hotel Goldener Hirsch is testimony to half a millennium of European cultural heritage.

A personal hotel, rich in tradition, we are situated just a short way from Mozart's birthplace on Getreidegasse, Salzburg's most famous street. The hotel's history dates back at least as far as 1407, when it was first mentioned in a written document as an inn. This warm and inviting hotel considers each guest a "friend of the house."

You'll be warmly welcomed and happily served in a very special atmosphere of locally crafted furnishings and antique artwork. This is just part of the reason we were named to Best Hotel in Austria 2007 by Travel and Leisure Magazine. Austrian flair and comfort embraces the guests of the Hotel Goldener Hirsch, right in the baroque centre of Salzburg. It is a personally run hotel, rich in tradition. The combination of all the romantic charm of a 15th century inn with the luxury of a five star hotel has given the Hotel Goldener Hirsch national and international reputation.

There is a variety of places for you to chose for dining and refreshments at the hotel.

Breakfast will be served from 7:00 until 10:30 in the Rosa Salon on the first floor.

Restaurant Goldener Hirsch:

It is the most famous exclusive venue in Salzburg and many celebrities meet for lunch or dinner here all year round.
Its cuisine is a superb combination of traditional local specialities and new creations in the spirit of contemporary creative cooking.

The Wine Cellar boasts a selection of Austrian wines together with superb vintages from the world´s great estates.

The restaurant serves lunch from 12:00 to 14:30 and dinner from 18:30 to 22:00.

Bar Goldener Hirsch:

The Bar is the favourite meeting place of many well-known international personalities and invites guests to its covered inner courtyard for aperitifs.

Restaurant Herzl:

The Herzl located beside the Hotel Goldener Hirsch has been an insider´s meeting point for a long time and is the ideal venue to enjoy home-cooking in a relaxed and convivial Salzburg atmosphere.

The restaurant is open from 11:30 to 22:00.

Very central, easy to reach all the attractions of Salzburg. Plenty of good eating places all around.

Not much life in the bar or restaurants

Prior to our arrival the head concierge of the hotel was very helpfull in getting us concert tickets for the festival on during our stay.The hotel was in great location. The people were friendly.

The bar of the hotel was not that great: the barman was not very pleasant and could not make a mojito!!!!!

The old world charm, the location in the old town

While the room was very clean, there was an odor in the bathroom. We think that there was a plumming problem, as there were some loud banging at 7am in the morning

Excellent location. The hotel has a wonderfully authentic Austrian feel so you really know where you are whenever you're in the public areas. The staff were very charming too.

Unfortunately, being put in a house over the road made us feel not particularly special because of the way it was not explained to us. To have to walk through an office to get to the lift is really not 5*. Even if this is normal for the hotel, we were not to know as it was our first stay.
